HOW TO ENTER 1. The contest commences Tuesday, April 1, 2008 and closes at 11:59:59 pm (ET) on Monday, June 30, 2008 (the "Contest Period"). This contest is sponsored by Spectrum Brands Canada, Inc. ("Sponsor"). 2. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER: To enter online, visit www.batteriesforlife.com (the "contest website"), click on the contest link, complete all entry form information and click submit. To enter by mail, print your full name (including middle initial), home address, home telephone number and, if applicable, email and work telephone number on a plain piece of paper, not exceeding 8.5" X 11". Each mail-in entry must be mailed separately in an envelope bearing sufficient postage to Spectrum Brands Inc., 601 Rayovac Drive, Madison, WI 53711. 3. To be eligible, all mail-in entries must be post-marked by, and all online entries must be received by, no later than 11:59:59 pm (ET) on Monday, June 30, 2008 (the "Contest Closing Date"). Void where prohibited. 4. Maximum of one (1) contest entry per person, per household, and/or email address. If more than one entry is received from the same person, household and/or email address, all entries received from such person, household and/or email address will be disqualified. THE DRAW A random draw to select potential winners will be made by the contest judges (who may be employees or independent contractors of the Sponsor or its promotional agents) on Monday, August 4, 2008 in Toronto, Ontario at 10:00 am ET ("Draw Date"). One (1) entry will be randomly selected from among all entries received on or before the Contest Closing Date as the potential Grand Prize winner and ten (10) entries will be randomly selected from among all entries received on or before the Contest Closing Date as the potential Secondary Prize winners. In order to win, each selected entrant must first correctly answer without assistance a time-limited, mathematical skill-testing question to be administered by telephone at a pre-arranged, mutually convenient time. If a selected entrant cannot be reached within ten (10) days from the first attempted contact (the "Contact Period") then his/her entry will be declared null and void and another entry will be randomly selected from the remaining entries and the contact process will be repeated, on the same basis, with the ten (10) day Contact Period running from the date of the new draw. The odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries received. Entrants will not be individually contacted except for selected entrants or declared winners who will be contacted by telephone and/or e-mail. If a potential or declared winner is not in compliance with the contest rules, the contest judges reserve the right to disqualify such entrant from the contest and randomly select a further entrant from the remaining entries until a winner is finally declared. The contest judges shall attempt to contact a selected entrant within the Contact Period and each such selection will be otherwise subject in all respects to these contest rules. GENERAL RULES 1.This contest is open to all legal residents of Canada, who are over the age of majority in their province or territory of residence, except employees (and persons with whom they are domiciled) of Sponsor the judging organization and any of their respective affiliates, and each of their respective advertising and promotional agencies. 2. Entries which are fraudulent, mutilated, illegible, incomplete or otherwise do not conform to the requirements of these contest rules will be disqualified, as will online entries generated by script, macro, robotic, programmed, or any other automated means. 3. Entries submitted become the property of the Sponsor and none will be returned. The Contest Group is not responsible for entries that are lost, late, incomplete, incorrect, misdirected, postage due or delayed for any reason. 4. All decisions of the contest judges with respect to any and all aspects of the contest are final and binding, without right of appeal. By entering the contest, entrants agree to abide by these contest rules and all decisions of the contest judges. 5. The Sponsor reserves the right, subject to the approval of the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux in Quebec in respect of Quebec residents, to cancel or modify the contest or to amend the contest rules or the prizes for any reason at any time without notice. 6. The Contest Group are not responsible for printing, distribution, technical or production errors in the advertising or administration of the contest and the Sponsor may terminate or withdraw the contest, if found to contain such errors, without liability and without notice, at its sole discretion. By entering the contest, each entrant agrees to abide by these contest rules, which are subject to change without notice and each entrant releases the Contest Group, from any damage, loss or liability suffered as a result of or arising from the entrant’s participation or attempted participation in the contest or the use of any prize. 7. The Contest Group assumes no responsibility for lost, stolen, delayed, damaged or misdirected entries or for any failure of the contest website during the promotional period, for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or entry to be received by Sponsor on account of postal delays, technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination thereof including any injury or damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from entering or attempting to enter or downloading any material relating to the contest. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel or suspend the e-mail portion of this contest should a virus, bug, or other cause beyond the reasonable control of Sponsor corrupt the security or proper administration of the contest. Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or to undermine the legitimate operation of this promotion is a violation of criminal and civil laws, and should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution. Entries are subject to verification and will be declared invalid if they are illegible, mechanically reproduced, mutilated, forged, falsified, altered or tampered with in any way. 8. In order to be confirmed a winner and receive a prize, each potential winner will be required to sign the Sponsor’s form of Declaration of Compliance and Release which confirms compliance with these official contest rules and releases the Sponsor and its respective affiliated companies, agencies, contest prize suppliers and their respective officers, directors, employees, agents and representatives (collectively, the "Contest Group") from all liability with respect to the entrant’s participation in this contest and the awarding and use of the. 9. By entering this contest, each winner authorizes the Sponsor to broadcast, publish and otherwise use his/her name, voice, comments, photographs or other likeness without compensation, in any publicity carried out by the Sponsor, in ay medium, including without limitation on any website operated by or for the benefit of the Sponsor. 10. The names, addresses and any other personal information obtained from the contest participants in connection with the contest will only be used in connection with the administration of the contest, including without limitation for the purpose of selecting, and contacting, a winner, unless otherwise separately consented to by the entrant. Residents of Quebec: Quebec residents may submit any litigation respecting the conduct and administration of this publicity contest to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach settlement. 13. The contest and these contest rules shall be exclusively governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario. Any dispute shall be adjudicated in the courts of the Province of Ontario, sitting in Toronto, Ontario (subject to the provisions of Rule 20 above).
